Jan Hus: The courage of thought, faith and death
Graphic design ǀ visual style, typesetting, production
Jan Hus died in 1415 and he has been beloved ever since: that’s 600 years of emotions, inspiration and admiration. And he’s now the subject of a permanent exhibition in Konstanz, Germany, as well as a catalogue activities we participated in as graphic designers and producers.
We created a smart, sensitive and elegant illustrated book, first published in 2015 by the Hussite Museum in Tábor in Czech, English and German. We used the Czech Splendid Sans font for typesetting and the light-weight Marian Black historicizing font to reinforce a period feel. The cover features a stylised drawing of the devil Hus wore on his hat when he was burnedat the stake.
